DESIGN
We have two highly specialised engineering departments dedicated to designing and validating all our products, including cold-plates, water-blocks, and active and passive cooling systems. We take a flexible and targeted approach.
We can industrialise existing designs or create fully custom-built solutions that take the customer’s needs into account. We also offer customisable technology platforms designed for specific applications, with the option to request further adaptations.
We offer turnkey solutions, thanks to our comprehensive expertise in thermal, mechanical, electrical and software design, including CFD/FEM simulations, testing and validation.
PROTOTYPING AND TESTING
Prototyping is a crucial step: our high-tech laboratories conduct rigorous testing and validation on each product. We don’t just design; we also develop fully customised testing systems that guarantee total reliability and compliance with project requirements.
Our testing and validation capabilities range from metallurgical analyses and HALT (reliability, fatigue and burst) tests to all functional and performance tests that simulate real-life conditions using specially designed ‘dummy’ thermal loads. All these tests can be conducted in temperature- and humidity-controlled environments.
MILLING
Milling is one of our signature skills: our state-of-the-art CNC machining centres operate around the clock, enabling us to machine aluminium, copper, and stainless steel. We handle both mass production (thousands of pieces per year) and prototype batches of just a few units or custom components.
Direct interaction between the engineering and production teams ensures a rapid and optimal transition from design to finished product.
VACUUM BRAZING (VB)
Vacuum Brazing is central to COOLTECH’s production process. Our two dedicated vacuum furnaces run around the clock, controlled by advanced software, providing the capacity to handle both prototypes and large-scale production, as well as components of any size.
The high vacuum eliminates the risk of internal contamination and ensures maximum quality by completely avoiding the use of fluxing agents.
FRICTION STIR WELDING (FSW)
Friction Stir Welding (FSW) takes place in automated CNC centres, involving the plastic deformation of two materials rather than their fusion. Our machining centres are capable of handling both prototypes and mass production concurrently.
In contrast to Vacuum Brazing, the joints are linear and follow a predetermined path, depending on the design, while ensuring optimal performance in terms of watertightness.
This is ideal when performance must meet manufacturing and cost requirements, including the possibility of using die-cast alloys for large quantities. Additionally, FSW can be used to connect copper and other metal components, making it a highly versatile solution.
Helium leak testing
Helium leak testing is in our DNA: thanks to our six helium leak testing systems, we can test up to 100% of our production and guarantee that every product that leaves our factories is completely leak-free.
When used in conjunction with vacuum conditions within the components and test chamber, helium can detect microscopic leaks — up to 1,000 times smaller than those identifiable with traditional air testing — without the need for tracer fluids. We can also test larger assemblies using the sniffer method. In both cases, we provide an OK/NOK result along with leak rate values, which are useful for process monitoring, all in a fully automated manner.
CLEAN PRODUCTION
Clean production is not merely a process, but rather a comprehensive philosophy that ensures quality and cleanliness, especially in the most sensitive and critical applications.
Our ISO 8 and ISO 9 clean room, spanning 400m², uses control systems that regulate air, temperature, and humidity to minimise the risk of contamination. At our facility, we handle complex assemblies and conduct final testing in a clean environment that is ideal for sectors such as semiconductors, precision electronics, and medical devices. Our clean room is also equipped with infrastructure for helium leak testing.
